Palm focuses on mass market for Centro in Europe
Posted February 15, 2008 1:04 AM by Tadd Rosenfeld
We met with Palm Europe this week in their pavilion opposite i-mate's at Mobile World Congress. Palm is making a significant investment in the continent, with a main office in the UK supported by small offices in a number of other countries. Targeted teams are focused on carrier and retailer relations.

In the display area, Palm showed off the upcoming unlocked GSM Palm OS Centro in black and white and the Windows Mobile Treo 500v. The company believes the small form factors and very low price points make them ideal mass market consumer products.
Centrosite.com readers may already be well informed about Palm's Centro and Treo 500v. Nevertheless, we recorded a short video of the manufacturer showing off the devices. We learned that the actual release date of the unlocked GSM Centro is the end of the month, and not Valentine's Day as was erroneously reported throughout the blogosphere.
We appreciated meeting the marketing team across the "pond," and look forward to staying in contact to cover Palm's European device releases.

Have ordered my new centro ... can't wait ! But I can't help but thinking if Palm are serious about this being a mass market phone then they should at least replace the 2.5mm headset jack with a 3.5mm one. Even RIM have managed to get that right now.....c'mon Palm.....listen to what your customers want !!
