You have a bookmark on your computer at home. Now you are at work but you can't remember the URL to save your neck. Or, if you are anything like me, you have probably at some time or other found a site that you wanted to bookmark on your phone, but found yourself dreading entering the whole, big, long thing. Or perhaps you had a site that you wanted to share with a friend. Now there's a solution to all of these little problems. PhoneFavs is a new, Social Bookmarking system optimized for Mobile Users.

When you first browse to the site, you will see a handpicked mobile link directory, letting you discover new sites and services.

This free service also allows users to store an always-available list of bookmarks for websites that can be viewed easily on a mobile browser, and is ideal for any device with a web browser -- smartphones, feature-phones, iPhone's, PDA's, tablets and portable computers. With this site, you are never without your bookmarks, even if you are on someone else's computer or handheld.

I like to keep my local traffic incident information as my home page. It is a long URL, and I never can remember it. The problem is that the home page setting is reset to the factory default if you do a hard reset. Signing up was quick and simple. I logged in, and within minutes, I had created favorites for several web sites, including my local traffic incident site. You can make your bookmarks private so that nobody else can view them, which I chose to do with my work e-mail link. PhoneFavs only saves your password for 2 weeks, though, so you will have to log back in after that time.

PhoneFavs also boasts a "mobilizer" which automatically adapts standard web pages for improved viewing on smaller screen devices. The mobilizer will allow you to view the page with or without images, and can therefore improve the speed of your browsing.

You can also take advantage of the public favorites entered by other users by copying the bookmarks they have already entered into your own favorites. If you intend to browse through the available bookmarks, I'd recommend browsing from a computer rather than from the device, as you can only see 3-4 bookmarks at a time on the device.

As with anything that relies on open contributions, the results are only as good as the data entered. As seen in this screen shot, Amazon has been entered many times, by many different users.

If you transfer devices, move around to many different computers or just want to share your favorites with others, PhoneFavs is a simple answer to your needs. Its fast, clean and simple UI is easy to navigate and very intuitive, and delivers all it promises.
